Makeup Tricks

I have been really busy lately and have neglected my blog. I'm sorry dear readers. Now that everything has more or less settled down, I'm back and I promise to write more often.

Today I feel like sharing some makeup tricks I have learned. Here are a few hacks and tricks that you can use everyday.

Oily?

Starbucks Tissues make the best oil blotters.
Trust me, they work better than those blue film strips.

Bad at putting liquid eye liner?
If you’re not used to using Gel or Liquid eyeliner, line your eyes with a pencil eyeliner first. This way, it will be easier to fix, erase or perfect, before lining your eyes with he liquid or gel eyeliners, that are harder to erase or fix.

Clean up any smudges using concealer and your foundation.

Bottom lash mascara issues?
Use a calling card or business card when applying mascara on your bottom lashes. This way, you avoid accidents or mascara under your eyes. It will take forever to clean that up. You can also use the back side of a plastic spoon.

Tired?
Line your water line with white or nude eyeliner to make your eyes pop and look less tired. For a little more pop, add some in the corners of your eyes and blend.

Puffy eyes?
Put some silver or metal spoons in the freezer and put them under your eyes to lessen the swelling before putting make up on.

Cracked foundation?
Use a cotton pad or cotton ball and put it in your compact or eyeshadow pot to prevent it from breaking when you toss it in your bag.

If you have already dropped your compact, use some alcohol (99% alcohol) and spritz it on the cracked up make up and pack it together with your finger.

Mascara dry?
That’s probably because you pump your mascara wand. NEVER pump your mascara wand, this causes air bubbles to get in the tube and will make your mascara dry faster. Swirl the wand inside the tube instead. If it has already dried up, add 2-3 drops of saline solution. Remember though, mascara should be thrown out after 2-3 months.

Want to do the perfect cat eye?
Use a piece of tape in the outer corners of your eyes as a guide. You can also use sticky notes.

Dry lips?
Exfoliate your lips and use lip balm before you go to bed. After brushing your teeth, go ahead and brush your lips to exfoliate them. No one wants to see dry lips.

Make up sliding?
Set everything cream or liquid with powder. So if you’re using a liquid foundation, set it with a powder foundation. If you are using a cream or gel eyeliner, you can set it with the same or darker color eyeshadow.

And lastly, Always apply makeup on a clean face!

I am having a Personal Makeup Workshop on October 25, 2014. Drop me an email or send me a Viber Message if you're interested in joining!

  1. Cool tricks. Really amazing. This post will help a lot of ladies, I believe. This post reminds me of Manila makeup artist Rea Pinpin.
